I cannot believe that it is March already! However, I feel like I say that consistently - every month! Either way - welcome to Simply Joy's newsletter for March! Thank you all for your support!
March Break
This year, unexpectedly I will be taking a trip out to Vancouver over March Break to see some loved ones. This means that the studio will be closed and all lessons will be cancelled and refunded, if you have paid your March fees already.
Please note that there will be lessons on Saturday March 30th, however, there will not be lessons on Easter Sunday or Monday.
As this is slightly confusing for those who have lessons on Sundays and Mondays, please don't hesitate to contact me about your lesson schedule this month.
Important Dates
March 24-29 - Spring Break, Studio Closed
Lessons Resume Saturday March 30th Easter Sunday and Monday - Holiday, no lessons
NOA Art Walk in Bonnie Doon
The Night of Artists Art Walk happening in Bonnie Doon this March is a fantastic family friendly event. This will include amazing artist displays, live music and interactive activities for all ages! It is a free event, and for a night out for the parents, there is also a GALA evening on the Saturday night. I will be there as well, with my booth set up and look forward to seeing you all!

Concert Opportunities
There are many fantastic concerts happening in the city of Edmonton in the upcoming months! Here's one to take note of!
Brahms Symphony No. 3 - March 8&9
The warmth of Brahms’ third symphony has made it a favourite of many concertgoers. His friend Clara Schumann wrote: “Each movement is a jewel! I could not tell you which I loved most.” A century earlier, Carl Philip Emanuel Bach composed his emotional and imaginative flute concerto – complete with stormy, calm, angry, and joyous moods, with its dazzling melodies requiring breath-defying skills. Finnish composer Lotta Wennäkoski’s overture is an exciting exploration of musical buoyancy, rising and falling both in volume and intensity.

Charlotte and the Music-Maker - March 16th
Charlotte is no ordinary little girl; she plays the trumpet on a cardboard tube, the xylophone with two knitting needles, and the drums on anything that bangs. Her musical talents are not appreciated at home, so she sets off into the wide world only to find herself lost in a raging blizzard. The Music-Maker to the rescue! An odd little man who shares Charlotte's passion for music, the Music-Maker takes Charlotte on a magical, musical journey. Your ESO will perform a stunning original score by Canadian composer Alain Trudel, plus selections from Handel, Grieg, and up-beat arrangements of well-known popular tunes. Families will enjoy this adventure with Platypus Theatre exploring the sounds and colours of the instruments and the exciting possibilities that music offers. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

The Sound of Music - March 2-31
Set in late 1930’s Austria, the free-spirited Maria, set to take religious orders at an abbey, becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children. In her new position, she brings a new love of life and music into the hearts of each of the children and the surly Captain Von Trapp. A Tony Award winning musical with music and lyrics by Rogers and Hammerstein.
